May I play through

One of the things I think about quite a bit is what makes someone want to run for office. Whether it be the guy running for the town council or the person running for President. I have come up with a lot of reasons, for some it is the chance to serve their community, state or country, maybe give something back, for others it is the chance for power. These would be the two main categories which I think any candidate or office holder would fit into. Except our current President that is.

With Barack Obama I think there is something else. I personally don’t think he really cares all that much about this country, at least not in the sense someone like me does. He doesn’t see the country as the greatest in the world, he doesn’t believe that our form of government is the greatest in the world, if he did, why does he try to change it every chance he gets? Make no mistake about it, Obama is a Progressive and he wants to turn this country into a Socialist state. But, I don’t think that is why he wanted to be President.

And as far as the power thing goes, I am not sure he really has all that much. The first two years of his presidency, he had a majority in both the Senate and the House, yet he really didn’t accomplish a whole lot, and now it is even worse, so it wasn’t political power he was after. He had that and failed to capitalize on it. If it is world power, he has made this country a laughing stock around the world, making enemies of our allies and believing he has made allies of our enemies. When confronted with any kind of crisis he cannot make a decision, instead adopting a “wait and see” attitude which leads to him doing nothing until it is too late.

Let’s look at Libya for example. He really hasn’t made any kind of stand, even though the Libyan rebels asked for our help. Libya is a country who has been our enemy for many years and who has attacked our soldiers in the past. He had the chance to help oust the current dictator in Libya and possibly install a democratic and friendly government, but instead has done nothing. So now what will the likely scenario be? Khadafy will more than likely fall shortly, more than likely when the rebels get help from Al-Qaida, who will then turn the Libyans against the US, saying basically, “You asked for the Americans help and they spat on you, this is why we must now kill them.” We have given Al-Qaida the perfect opportunity to strike and control another country.

So I don’t think he wanted to be president for the power. Instead, today I figured it out. Barack Obama wanted to be President just so he could say he was President. He had no experience and no idea what it would take to be president. He began his campaign for his second term the day after he was elected. He has used his office so he and Michelle can live the good life on the taxpayers’ dime, holding lavish parties, seeing all the best entertainment, eating like royalty (which they truly believe they are). Barack has no idea what a president needs to do, and while there have been others in the same situation in the past; at least they had brains enough to surround themselves with good people. Not Obama. He has surrounded himself with people like him, people with very little experience in the private sector, where real experience comes from.

Yesterday, while the world is going crazy, earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan, as well as the threat of a major nuclear catastrophe, the Libyan rebels being slaughtered by their country’s dictator, gas prices going through the roof, unemployment still rising, Barack Obama went out and played 18 holes of golf. Is this how a leader leads? It is when he has no idea of how to fix things.

I have never been a fan of President Obama, but I have also never really disrespected him either, he is the President, but I have finally lost all respect for him. All true Americans, those who truly believe in the American way and the real American dream, not the one where the government provides everything to you, need to do everything in their power to see that this man does not get reelected to another four year term. If he is, there will be no fixing what he has destroyed.

If you don’t like it just ignore it

Just when you think it can’t get any worse we have this: “Adminstration refuses to defend Anti-gay Marriage Law”. This is just a polite way of saying “Screw the Constitution, we will only enforce the laws we like.”

Once again the Obama Administration has decided to step on the US Constitution because they don’t like something and they can’t get the legislature changed. Just because the President doesn’t like the “Defense of Marriage Act” doesn’t mean it can be ignored. I don’t like the fact that I can’t drive 95 MPH on the Massachusetts Turnpike, but I don’t ignore the law.

Personally I have no opinion on Gay Marriage, this is America and people should be free to do what they want. What people do is between them and their God, if they believe in God, it isn’t my business or the Governments. I will say I believe the voters have the right to vote on the matter, unlike here in Massachusetts where the voters weren’t allowed to. But that will be a topic for another day.

This law was duly passed and signed but none other than the hero of the liberal left Bill Clinton and it has not been legally removed from the laws of the United States, Therefore it has to be defended if a case is brought up to the courts. Now I suppose one could argue that the law itself is unconstitutional since it is not one of the enumerated powers which is listed in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, but since it is on the books, it is safe to assume it was either not challenged or if it was the challenge failed. (It is interesting to note though that one of the enumerated powers gives the Congress the right to “Define and punish piracies…on the high seas”, let’s see if Obama does something to the Somalians).

There is nothing in the Constitution or the Amendments which says the President has the authority to decide which laws he of his Justice Department will enforce. It’s interesting, as I wrote last week, a question which is always asked of tea party members by non-members is “What does taking back the Constitution mean?” This is a perfect example. The left is constantly taking away the Constitution by subverting it, changing the meaning of it or just ignoring it. When we say we want to take it back, we mean things such as this need to stop. The Constitution means exactly what it says. It does not mean what you want it to say.

This is just another example of why the tea party movement must advocate change in the 2012 elections. If we don’t, there will be nothing left worth savings.

Connecting the dots

A few days ago I wrote about VP Biden (and the president) wanting to spend $53 billion dollars on high speed rail projects. Now don’t get me wrong I love trains but I just don’t think this would be the best use of this money. As I wrote the article there was a little tea party voice nagging at me saying there must be something else to this. And here it is: Continue reading →

Like Schultz – he knows nothing

The trial of Rod Blagojevich will continue on Monday.  On Day 14, prosecutors continued the questioning of John Harris,  Blago’s ex chief of staff.  The largely unreported bombshell was Harris’ testimony that President Obama knew that Governor Blagoevich was plotting to trade the President’s senate seat for a cabinet position:

“The president understands that the governor would be willing to make the appointment of Valerie Jarrett as long as he gets what he’s asked for. . . . The governor gets the Cabinet appointment he’s asked for,” Harris said, explaining a recorded call.

Harris said Blagojevich came away believing Obama knew what he wanted after having a conversation with a local union representative, who in turn spoke with labor leader Tom Balanoff, with whom Blagojevich met to discuss a Jarrett appointment. Jarrett, now a White House adviser, was seeking the appointment to Obama’s Senate seat.

The position of the White House to date is that the President knew nothing about Blago’s attempts to sell the Obama seat.  We know the President sent a number of representatives to Blago, including his union buddies Tom Balanoff and Andy Stern. We know that Rahm Emanuel entered into negotiations with Chief of Staff John Harris for the same seat.

Given the recent allegations that this administration tried to bribe Joe Sestak (D-PA) and Andrew Romanoff (D-CO) not to run in their respective primaries to protect Arlen Spector and Michael Bennet, it seems unlikely that the White House is telling us the truth.  After all, the sort of horse trading Blago was indicted for seems more like the Chicago way than anything out of the ordinary.

The testimony puts more pressure on Judge Zagel to allow the defense to subpoena President Obama or at least release the interview he gave to the FBI.

The President Courts Scott Brown

Apparently President Obama called Scott Brown from Air Force One yesterday.  (I guess the mention of the airplane is supposed to highlight the president’s importance in some way, but it seems to me he practically lives on that plane between campaign stops, and we pay for the gas.)

The President had an urgent message for Brown:  Democrats are moving forward with an immigration overhaul in a month.

Yeah, and?  I have no doubt that President Obama is trying to woo Scott Brown, but I doubt that is his only agenda.  President Obama seems keen on making the charismatic Brown suspicious to republicans.  Brown is a rock star by most accounts and this president can’t possibly have that.

A lefty friend of mine called on Sunday after watching Brown on Face The Nation.  His response:  “This guy could be president”.    Well maybe, But I hope he will spend his days working hard to be a senator. If he does that, any attempts by the President to marginalize Brown’s popularity, will go to waste.
