Obama’s Green Energy Conspiracy

The latest from Matt’s Meditations – by Matt Holzmann:

The Inspector General of the Interior Department released a report this morning that the White House altered the report generated by that department recommending a 6 month ban on offshore drilling for oil for its political ends. It seems that the White House implied that it had scientific and engineering consensus and support for the ban when it had no such thing.

When one considers the war against conventional energy that has been waged since the advent of the administration, this is one more data point in what is becoming an overwhelming case of rigging the results to press the President’s green agenda by any means necessary.

They have said they support nuclear power while making sure that the plants cannot be built for lack of transparency in the process. They banned inshore drilling, which had nothing to do with the BP accident. The Administration demonized BP for pressing profit over safety, and the results of that investigation, released this week, showed that while mistakes were made, no such thing occurred. The Department of the Interior has banned almost all new drilling in Alaska with trumped-up evidence.

They have waged war on the coal mining and power industry, while they have also assaulted fractal drilling for natural gas.

In the meantime, the government has spent billions of dollars supporting wind and solar power. One of the major recipients of this largesse, Solyndra, who received $400 Million, announced that they are shutting down one of their two plants because they cannot run it profitably.

And this gets to the crux of the issue. The issues with green energy must be solved on a scientific, engineering and commercial basis, not wishful thinking. And they must be solved out in the open and not riven with government subterfuge. The Administration has done its best to orchestrate the actions of the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, and Department of Interior into an energy policy by fiat based not upon science and common sense, but on a leftist political agenda.

Today’s Hero

John Boehner announced today that he will continue to fly commercial.  That means the Pelosi private jet ruse will end in January:

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents from the Air Force detailing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s use of United States Air Force aircraft for Congressional Delegations (CODELs). According to the documents, obtained by Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Speaker’s military travel cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over a two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol.
If it’s good enough for Boehner Mrs Pelosi, it is good enough for you.  If I were in charge I’d make her pay it back.

Mitch McConell beware

The Tea party is about to have its first  showdown with the republican party.  And it is over earmarks.  Mitch McConnell senate minority leader is campaigning to keep earmarks, arguing that the reps should dictate spending and not the president.

First of all, there is nothing in the constitution that says elected officials can earmark things.  McConnell argues that it really is not any money at all – a billion here and a billion there makes no difference.  But he has failed to consider a few things.

First of all, as we saw in the health care bill, and unpopular initiative can pass if those who oppose it are suddenly persuaded by the earmark they attached to the bill.  It’s bribery, and everyone knows it.  Secondly, it’s not your money Mitch.

The real issue is people voting for something they otherwise would not have voted for except for the earmark.  So you really aren’t for socialized medicine, and neither are your constituents but hey, who can resist a Cornhusker Kickback?

This teapartiers is opposed to all earmarks senator McConnell and if you resist on this front you will be watched very carefully going forward, and most likely targeted when your term expires.

On another note – on morning Joe this morning, Joe and Barnacle confessed that for the last 2 years democrats complained to them repeatedly that Obama had no idea how to govern.  Something tells me that if Republicans were saying that about George Bush, it would have taken 2 minutes to report it, not 2 years.  Such is the double standard.

Update: Tea Party Patriots encourages you to call these senators about the earmark issue:

Call these 7 GOP Senators now, tell them to VOTE TO BAN EARMARKS – Mitch McConnell (KY) (202) 224-2541, Jim Inhofe (OK) (202) 224-4721, Lindsey Graham (SC) (202) 224-5972, Lamar Alexander (TN) (202) 224-4944, Jon Kyl (AZ) (202) 224-4521, John Barrasso (WY) (202) 224-6441, John Thune (SD) (202) 224-2321.

Rubio scares the daylights out of them

“Marco Rubio looks like a Central American dictator” so tweetith Arianna Huffington on election night.

Let’s imagine for a minute if Brett Baird was out there tweeting that President Obama looks like a Kenya revolutionary.  Think he would still have a job?  Would the entire mainstream media be talking about it?

Clearly the right is always racist while the left hasn’t a racist bone in its body.  Status quo.

They are going to go after Rubio relentlessly because he scares the bejeesus out of them.  (Can I say “bejeesus” as a conservative?)

Insty headline of the day:

GOOD GRIEF: “Grief Counselors” Visit The Offices Of Emotionally Distraught Congressional Democrats.

I hope we aren’t paying for that.  No one has volunteered to finance my emotional distress since this president took office.

This morning on Morning Joe, they were bitching that President Bush didn’t apologize in his interview with Matt Lauer last night.  I saw the interview.  The only people who owe the country an apology is the MSNBC crowd and their fellow liberal media types.

The President in India

I’ve only heard parts of this speech, but does it seem to anyone else that President Obama is talking down to the Indians?

Our president seems to be caught in India’s past  (Ghandi) awhile ignoring it’s future – and present – new business, entrepreneurship, capitalism.
