On to the Economy
Nov 30th
Kevin Williamson and Alan Reynolds
Last night we ran into Alan Reynolds and his wife in the bar, and had a very interesting conversation. Today the supply side economist talks about the economy with Kevin Williamson who is a bit of a hunk.
Is it a bit preposterous to say tax cuts pay for themselves?
It’s about incentives.
Why does Sarah Palin sound so much better than Bernake on monetary policy?
Bernake is obsessed with the depression and wrong.
The Tea party is focused on the Fed reserve bank. Is that right or are there more nefarious fish?
Have things been better since the Fed was created?
Lots of bad stuff came from the fed.
Meet the Press
Nov 29th
The subject matter today is: The Elections: Is the MSM a Big Loser?
Kevin Williamson (Moderator)
Andrew Breitbart
Bob Costa
Cal Thomas
Dan Hannan
Roger Kimball
Bernie Goldberg
Bernie Goldberg: If NY times went on strike tomorrow, CBS would not know what to say on the news tomorrow night.
Breitbart: The blogosphere is now dictating what the news picks up.
Bob Costa: Political money keeps local papers alive
Roger Kimball: The political culture that produces American middle class – they don’t believe they have politics, they think they represent the state of nature. Progressives believe that eventually everyone will think alike because they will all be enlightened.
What threat is the media to American institutions?
Dan Hannan: We think the left is intellectually wrong, they think we are morally wrong.
You can no longer kill a story by ignoring it which is what they tried to do with climate gate. Eventually the email leaked.
Andrew: for 8 years the press did everything they could do, and said anything they could think of to destroy a war time president. Then suddenly what Obama did in his 30’s 20’s and teens became off limits. That is straight out of Alinsky. The era of “dissent is patriotic” ended with Obama.
Hannan: Just offer something better and they will come
I honestly believe (and I told him so) that within a decade, Breitbart will be the biggest media influence in this country if not the world. He’s off to a very good start.
