Tea Party
OWS, the Tea Party, and the government double standard.
Oct 28th
When I organized the first Sturbridge Tea Party rally a year ago, I was surprised at all the bureaucratic hoops I had to jump through. I needed permits, insurance and government approval, all at a substantial cost, all due by some arbitrary deadline. If more than X amount of people were expected to attend I needed to anticipate that so I could pay for more porta-potties. No food was allowed unless it was okayed in advance by the Board of Health. I was limited to when (and where) I could post signs. I had to make sure people didn’t park here, or stand there, or make too much noise, etc etc etc. I was lucky because the Sturbridge Police were helpful not obstructionist. But it certainly was costly and time consuming to exercise my right of free speech. I expect this was the case all over the country for every tea party rally.
Not so for the OWS crowd. The laws just don’t apply to them. They got no permits, no insurance and the government supplies their porta-potties. They play drums all night, disturb the neighbors and refuse to leave when told. They aren’t paying for the police, we are. No one is inspecting their food, or telling them when to leave, or anything else for that matter.
Some of the tea parties are striking back:
RICHMOND, Va. — A Virginia tea party group is demanding a refund of about $8,000 from the city of Richmond, claiming it was unfairly charged for rallies while Occupy protesters have used the same space for several weeks for free.
The political organization is sending the city an invoice for the charges incurred for three rallies held in Kanawha Plaza over the past three years. The Occupy protesters have been camped in the plaza since Oct. 15.
Richmond Tea Party spokeswoman Colleen Owens says it’s not fair that her group had to pay fees for permits, portable toilets, police and emergency personnel. The group also had to purchase a $1 million insurance policy.
Tea party groups in Charlottesville, Va., Atlanta and Washington, D.C., have raised similar complaints.
IF OWS decides to come to Sturbridge, I’ll be right there with them. Meanwhile could someone please explain to the democrat mayors and governors in this country what “equality under the law” means.
Tea partiers take great pride in making sure every place they gather is cleaner when they leave it than when they arrived. The OWS crowd defecates on police cars and trash public property with abandon.
Once again people who are out there demanding that the government act like their nanny are getting a pass from the government. While those of us who play by the rules have to pay the bill.

If you weren’t appalled enough by the recent comments against the Tea Party then brace yourself for those of the Dept of Justice. Yup it seems that Obama has made suggestions to businesses to self report financially responsible people who pay in cash, buy waterproof matches and other survivalist supplies to be personal responsible for yourself. Evan to track those who are concerned in the dollars devaluation and buying some Canadian Money.
(Something that If you haven’t thought of already, you should, as Canada has a balanced budget and their money is valued higher than the dollar right now.)
So add to offending comments by Joe Biden, John Kerry, Maxine Waters and the red hated Floridian legislator, this curious report from vision to America regarding the dept of Justice.
Miss George Bush yet? I do!
Why does Florida Rep Frederica Wilson hate America?
Aug 24th
(And is that why she wears those silly hats?)
Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) lashed out at the tea party yesterday at the town meeting she shared with Maxine Waters.
“The real enemy is the Tea Party –- let’s remember that,” said Rep. Frederica Wilson of Miami Gardens, host of the meeting and jobs fair. “The Tea Party holds Congress hostage … They have one goal in mind, and that’s to make President Obama a one-term president.”
There can be no mistake that Wilson’s condemnation of the tea party is also a condemnation of the United States of America, the constitution, equal rights
and freedom.
At least by her logic.
Feast and Fire

If you are in the area, and have tired of watching the endless reel of my TV show, stop by Feast and Fire on the Sturbridge Common, 1-9 PM tomorrow (Saturday). The Sturbridge Tea Party has a booth where we will have a raffle to benefit Operation Tree Party, and we will also be selling Sturbridge Tea Party tea shirts.
Be there or be square!
Snarkblogging the Obamadowngrade excuse

Gee, We were downgraded on Friday and it’s only Monday, why the rush? At least he got the “blame the tea party” talking points out as a warm-up. I guess the Tea Party is the new President Bush. (Miss me yet?)
No reason to be on time, Mr. President. It’s not like anyone else’s life matters. Sure you had nothing on your schedule today, but that’s no reason you should not linger over lunch.
34 minutes later – stock market down 341 but hey, whose counting? (Rush calls him “debt man talking”.) I love it. Is the teleprompter broken? Or is this just Obama’s version of “let them sweat”. (yawn)
Market down 402 points. Maybe he is waiting for an even 500 to match Thursday’s performance.
So the only real question is – who will he blame? Oh and will he be petulant, angry or in campaign mode? Is this just a joke for him (e.g. “shovel ready jobs weren’t all that shovel ready, tee hee”).
Darn, I missed the beginning. I came in on Warren Buffet.
~~~
Warren Buffet said S&P was mean and the world agrees. WE need a balanced approach – more taxes and more taxes and more taxes. Europe, Japan and the middle east are all at fault.
Here is the good news. WE can solve this with new taxes. We need to tackle the deficits. And we have historic cuts in defense. WE now need tax reform to get ahold of their fair share and make modest adjustments to medicare. It’s common sense. Those bad corporate jet owners need to be taxed. WE have done all the work, but those horrid people who drew a line in the sand (tea partiers) are the real problem. And it makes no difference that I have done nothing with the debt commission or the gang of six. I have no plan and will never have a plan. I’ll just criticize.
Now I pivot to jobs. We need to spend more money. Extend the payroll tax cut and extend unemployment insurance. If congress fails to do any of those things it will cost 1 million jobs. (I made that up, but liberals will buy it.) WE need another stimulus for union people. And republicans agree – or they have in the past.
This is all a result of economic factors we can’t control. I am definitely not at fault, and we will always be triple A no matter what S&P says. Everyone needs to do it my way. That is not too much to ask. Get rid of those horrid tea partiers as they do not want to do it my way. Real Americans do it my way.
And guess who would always do it my way? The military. And we lost some of them this week. But I have it all under control. I talked to the Generals.
The military is diverse but they all come together, to do it my way, and that is what the tea partiers need to do.
The end
