Project Gunwalker

Freedom dies with a corrupt government

I watched Eric Holder’s Fast and Furious testimony yesterday and frankly felt sick to my stomach. This is absolutely the most corrupt administration in my lifetime, and Eric Holder is the flag bearer. According to Holder the lies his office submitted in writing to Congress are not lies because they didn’t mean them to be lies.

Tell that to Roger Clemens, or Scooter Libby. Hell tell that to Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton.

Holder’s hubris was absolutely stunning. He made it very clear he was above all of it, the rules don’t apply to him and Congress is wasting his time.

In reponse to Issa’s pointed reminder that Attorney’s general are not above the law, Holder responded: “Have you no shame?”

Hoystory takes it from there:

Shame? Shame!? Hundreds of Mexicans are dead. Border Agent Brian Terry is dead. The department that you have authority over allowed more than 2,000 guns to cross the border into the hands of violent drug cartels and you have the gall to chide elected representatives of the American people who seek to hold you to account for your lawlessness?

Shame?

Your deputy submitted a letter to Congress that you withdrew only after subsequent disclosures proved it to be full of lies. You can split legal hairs about there being no “intent” to deceive Congress when that letter was originally submitted, but as time goes by that claim begins to look flimsier and flimsier.

Shame?

We found out just days ago that that ATF officials sought to use the violence in Mexico and the fact that U.S.-bought guns were showing up at crime scenes in that country as a pretext to push for further restrictions on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. You, of course, were ignorant of this.

Shame?

It’s been the better part of six months, or maybe 9 or 12, depending on the quality of your memory and the meaningless difference between “weeks” and “months” in your concept of time, since you knew about this operation and not a single individual has lost their job, let alone has had charges filed against them for violations of federal laws.

Hundreds are dead as a direct result of actions undertaken by your subordinates and you wish to shame Congress?

Mr. Attorney General, if you had any integrity. If you had any honor, you would fire those most responsible for this travesty and then resign yourself.

The only person in this committee room who should be feeling shame is you and what you allowed—either by design or by neglect—to happen in Operation Fast and Furious.

Chairman: Member’s time has expired.

The president needs to tell Eric Holder his time has also expired.

The Arugla Defense

The Daily Caller encountered Eric Holder and asked him about the calls for his resignation which now include 52 Congressmen, 1 Senator, 2 Governors and 4 presidential candidates. His response was priceless:

‘You guys need to — you need to stop this. It’s not an organic thing that’s just happening. You guys are behind it.’”

It’s not “organic”? Really? Apparently it’s the attorney general’s position that we can ignore his part in Fast and Furious because the uproar doesn’t feel natural to him? Tell that to Brian Terry.

Going after the wrong witch

Yesterday on the Sunday talk shows, Senator Dick Durbin said he wanted Congress to open an investigation into the News Corp hacking scandal going on in Great Britain. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Durbin’s motive: If they can just get rid of Fox News the entire country will fall in line with the liberal agenda. Without Fox, reporting of any news not favorable to the president will cease to exist on TV. How sweet that would be for the progressive movement currently destroying our country.

We can expect the liberal media to be all News Corp all the time, until that witch is destroyed.

Meanwhile concentration on News Corp and Rupert Murdoch serves a much bigger purpose. It allows the media to continue to ignore Operation Fast and Furious, a real scandal growing by the day. This is particularly important as links to the White house and president are emerging. Operation Fast and Furious sent 2,500 guns illegally into Mexico under the ATF program. This act, apparently dictated by President Obama and AG Holder fueled the drug violence ravaging Mexico and led to the shooting death of a U.S. border agent. And now we learn that a similar program may have taken place in Honduras under the name “Operation Castaway“.

Watch and see how much press the liberal media gives this scandal. Operation Fast and Furious is the witch that must stay hidden.

Bigger than Watergate?

Project Gunwalker is not getting any better for this administration. The facts are damning and Darryl Issa’s investigation continues. The real issue is how long the lamestream media can ignore the story and provide cover for Holder and the President.

Project Gunwalker appears to have been an attempt by ATF, DOJ, and DHS to create a narrative that would make it easy to pass more gun control. The administration and Hillary Clinton have long contended that the overflowing violence in Mexico is a result of gun sales in the US. The administration alleged that 90% of all guns in Mexico came from the US. Armed with this information, the President proposed a ban on assault weapons. It was later determined that the actual number was slightly less than 8%.

After this lie blew up any opportunity to enact a gun ban, the administration, DOJ, DHS and ATF shifted gears and announced its plan to stop guns and drug trafficking across the border. Once again they blamed gun dealers for the problem. In April the administration undertook a “federal blitz,” and announced they were going to step up efforts to stop gun and drug trafficking across the border — portraying American gun dealers as a key part of the problem.

Bob Owens at PJM has been all over this:

In August, Acting ATF Director Ken Melson signed an agreement with the Mexican government to interdict gun smugglers moving weapons from the United States into Mexico. We now know that that feigned agreement was a farce, as a little more than a month later Operation Fast and Furious was forcing U.S. law enforcement agents to deceive Mexican authorities about their interdiction efforts. The administration allowed roughly 2,000 firearms to walk across the border beginning in October of 2009.

We know now that those firearms, resulted in the death of at least one US border agent and a US police officer, as well as more than 150 Mexicans.

The “project” could not have gone forward without the ATF, DOJ and Homeland Security involved in it. The question becomes who gave Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and acting ATF Director Ken Melson the go ahead on this program.

Given the timing of the operation and the administration’s stated goal to work on gun control “under the radar” President Obama needs to inform us, and Congress of his role in this matter.

Watch for this story to get so big that the media can no longer ignore it.
